30+ years’ experience in photo styling, producing, art directing, shopping and propping, visual merchandising, event setups, and fashion shows…
After a few years as a banker on Wall Street, my career in creative and marketing services began in the product merchandising department of Family Circle Magazine in NYC. After eight years in New York and Chicago, I returned to Portland and joined the ranks at Pendleton Woolen Mills, where my roles as Public Relations Coordinator and Advertising Assistant Manager required styling, art direction and production for photo shoots and fashion shows, as well as extensive copywriting and assembling strategic marketing plans.
In 1998, I chose to leave Pendleton and focus on freelance styling, writing, production, and art direction … I’ve been going strong ever since. My work runs the gamut: sport, lifestyle, soft goods, fashion and food, with end uses including advertising, marketing, catalog, internet, social media, video, packaging and editorial. My extensive advertising background enhances my ability to understand the overall context and intended impact of the shot, and helps me fulfill the client’s specific vision for the product being photographed.
My client list is extensive and varied, including Adidas, AtivaFit, Authenticity 50, Booster Juice, Columbia Sportswear, Cracker Barrel, Craft America, Craft Warehouse, Dakine, Dennis Uniforms, Filson, Forsake Footwear, Fred Meyer, Galligaskins, Good Catalog Company, House Special, Humble, Intel, Jantzen, Leatherman, Market of Choice, Marmot, Meduri, Meier and Frank (remember them?), Nike, The Nines, Norm Thompson, Otis & George, Pacific Foods, Pair of Thieves, Papa Murphy, Peeps Eyewear, Pendleton, Plum Organics, REI, Resers, Revomax, SafeTech, Serra, Smuckers, Solutions, Sorel, Starbucks, T-Mobile, World’s Finest Chocolate, and many local creative agencies and photo studios.
I have a B.A. in English from Colorado College, supplemented by graphic art and design classes at Parsons School of Design in New York and direct marketing classes at NYU. In 2004, I attended “Food on Film,” an intensive 4-day seminar on food styling and photography held biannually in Minneapolis.
I recently returned to Portland after a fantastic sabbatical in Spain.
