I have been a prizewinning writer ever since middle school, when I won the Portland Police Bureau’s “Crimestoppers” poetry contest. After receiving my award (a Pepsi-Cola muffler and cap), I was encouraged to continue writing in high school and college. I earned a B.A. in English from Colorado College and began leveraging my expertise in the “real world,” initially writing loan proposals as a banker on Wall Street, then quickly shifting my focus to writing and editing more interesting vehicles such as catalogs, websites, promotional materials, speeches, video scripts, and — most recently — blogging about my family’s seven-month adventure living in Spain.
